2 odd issues we’ve run into at this early stage:
1) the social icons seem… gone! They don’t appear at the top anymore and in the middle-right there is a line of code where they should be
2) The “top menu” area acquired extra space recently. Can’t figure out how to squish it back to normal.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Disabled visual composer.
Social icons came back.
Many more odd code snippets now appear as text on my page…
considering wiping it all and reinstalling Newspaper and never turning on visual composer
Ah, Visual composer must be active for Newspaper to work 🙂

The solution to this issue is simple. You will need to add some code to your .htaccess file like this post suggests: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/strange-chinese-symbols-replaced-icons-and-arrows/
