On the front page of my site I am just getting a blog post list. once You click on an individual category the grids show. How can I make it so there is the same look on the front page?

Hi,
Your issue is a simple wordpress setting you can find here: http://screencast.com/t/2yIGV566ZP
Switch from your latest posts to a static page and select the page you want to have on the homepage.
