How can I get different AdSense ads displayed based on different author display names. Basically, each author would have his/her specific AdSense ads displayed in every ad location on his/her posts.
The Ad boxes don’t appear to render PHP. Shortcodes or changing code somewhere?

I guess I would insert something like this somewhere? How do I actually get it displayed? Render?
The actual AdSense code (provided by Google) would be inserted in the place of <display ad>

Or can I use some shortcodes? Please advise. How do I create such shortcodes?

I suppose that you want to display the Ad for each your author name for every one author page. To do that, you have to add some conditions in author.php core file in order to achieve as you wish. As a hint, you have to use the_author_meta('ID') function and do_shortcode(). For more references about the_author_meta(), please check the codex documentation here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_author_meta. Also, you have to add your ad for each author name (ID), you have to have to introduce the following code
