Social Counter does not display in Safari on OS X

Hello!

Social Counter 4.1 does not show up in Safari on OS X. I just updated to the latest (25 May 2016) Newspaper theme and associated plugins.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Social Counter using the WordPress Plugins deactivate/delete/install function. I also removed/reinstalled the plugin via FTP. I do not use any caching plugins.

Anyone else having similar experience? Any suggestions or insight?

Thanks very much!
Peter

Hi,
I have tested this again and the counter displays fine on the latest version of iOS and Safari. Please check our demo on your mac: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ as there is a social counter widget on the homepage.
We could not find any errors on the OS and browser versions you pointed out.
Thank you!

Hello Bogdan B!

Thank-you for your quick reply!

I visited the demo link (http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/) you provided on:
– Safari on Mac: Social Connector does NOT appear at all
– Firefox on Mac: Social Counter DOES appear (at the top of the page)
– Chrome on Mac: Social Counter DOES appear (at the top of the page)

As I said in my original post, I haven’t experienced ANY issues getting the Social counter to work with Safari Mobile on iOS. The problem has only been with Safari on Mac OS X.

In Safari on Mac, both the demo link you provided and my clients site (karlwells.com);
– the Social Connector simply doesn’t appear; its as though the plugin is not even installed
– the Social Connector’s absence isn’t indicated by a blank white space where the plugin SHOULD display, but rather the other plugins fill all the available space – the Social Connector simply doesn’t appear at all

Its clearly an issue with Safari for Mac. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank-you for your patience and time!
Peter

Hi,
We are not getting any type of error an the mac: http://screencast.com/t/naZCxnYpdD As you can see it has been updated to the latest versions of iOS and Safari but the counter still works as expected. It could be a local issue maybe. Please test this on a different machine.
Thank you!

Hi again Bogdan B!!

I’m sorry – you are absolutely correct: the issue was on my end.

The Safari AdBlocker Extension (by Eyeo) was causing the issue, even though it had been disabled! I emptied history, caches, etc via the ‘Develop’ menu but nothing worked.

– I remembered that months ago I installed the AdBlock Safari Extension (by Eyeo) for a short time to test it against a WordPress installation
– I uninstalled it after only a few minutes of usage
– But the uninstall didn’t work or complete properly
– only after reinstalling it and then uninstalling it did the Social Connector show up in Safari!

I use Google Chrome mostly and, oddly, the Chrome AdBlock extension doesn’t cause an issue with the Social Connector!!!!

I’m sorry I wasted your time. But I really REALLY appreciate that you stuck with me and pushed me to dig deeper.

Thanks again! You rock the most!
Peter
