I recently got to know that the developers can use WebP support on their themes to help make website load faster without letting the webmaster do anything. So, I wanted to put up a request (if possible) to add the WebP image format support on the themes inbuilt 🙂 It would be great! And, the page speed would increase dramatically!

I have added to our list of improvements, and in a future update, it is possible but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because we have a big list of fixes, improvements, and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though.

Yes I understand. Although, you’ll be definitely supporting WebP image format soon enough because its the next generation image format which makes JPEG and PNG outdated 🙂
