Hi, I want to create a similar sidebar as shown below in which I want to show a parent category as heading and its children categories under it. I didn’t find any block or widget in which I can choose to show only from a particular category and under it its sub categories. Please help its an important part for my site.

Or you can create a custom menu: http://screencast.com/t/NbSQPnC3 – it will grab one of the menus form the menu area of wp.

Hi Bogdan, thanks for the reply. I tried wp categories/menu before, there is no option to choose a particular category and i don’t want to show post in the category sidebar. I want to show the child categories title just like the below pic. He is using the review theme: http://imgur.com/Rk2zGji. How can I do this in newspaper theme.

Try to use a custom menu as you can add custom links to whatever you want and use sub-menus like so: http://screencast.com/t/Lzx5WSOa
My menu items are all custom links so you can use this to add any type of category or sub-category to it.If you want to maintain hierarchy, simply use the menu options of WordPress. That is probably what the site you exemplified uses.

Hi Bogdan, thanks you had solved the problem. I created a new menu and added all the sub categories in it and selected that menu in the custom menu option. Below is the screenshot:http://imgur.com/fPMJfMk. Is there any way to change the header color of the wp widget I mean can we change the black color to default blue so it match with others. In the screenshot I had created the blue heading box by choosing row html option.

Thanks Catalin, my site URL is http://mbahunt.in/. I am facing one more issue. I am creating an education site, so I didn’t need much graphics/images on my site. I just want to create it like a blog with posts on one side and a sidebar. I had created a custom template which I am using on pages and posts but I am facing problem on categories pages as they use default template and there is no option to choose custom template. I had changed the sidebar as per my requirement but can’t change the template.
