i have tried ‘orderby’ => ‘slug’ and it didn’t work.
also, i am using paid “re-order” plugin, is it possible to work with ‘sort’ at the Mega menu?

I have used an “Category Order and Taxonomy Terms Order” plugin and it worked fine for me.
I tried this for the posts [‘sort’ => ‘random_posts’] and it didn’t work.

I want to use the same “sort” plugin to control the posts on the megamenu, my second question: is it possible to show posts on mega menu by Tag? (the first 5 from the “all” link)

Mega menu was intent to display posts only be category not by tag. To change this functionality are required many customizations in menu’s structure: http://screencast.com/t/a6xJvPEk
This is a complex task which involve some js customization and many tests in order to be achieved.
We can’t offer speed customization services at the moment so if really need this and you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you.

I am not very sure at what solution are you referring as we didn’t offered such solution on our forum.
As a starting point you need to change the taxonomy used for mega menu, replace category with tag: http://screencast.com/t/wMhkFgGz Also you will need to generate the drop-down list which will contain all tags not categories.
