I uploaded Newsmag Sport News to my site and the stats for each post do not match up. Jetpack tells me one thing and the views for each article are 0 or a random number like 22. I know my posts are being viewed. Even older posts, from site’s first year live, say there are 0 views. How do I get the stats to match?

The theme counts post views only when is active. If you published a post five days ago and our theme was installed yesterday the views from first three days won’t be counted. However Jetpack will count all views no matter what theme is active.

If the theme counts post views only when it is active, as you write, then “SHOW post views” is misleading, don’t you think.
I released my website around 2 weeks ago, activated the option just now, as I didn’t want to have zeros everywhere at the beginning, and I have them anyway. 🙂
Would it be possible to have views counted in the background, with this option off? Do you plan to do so?

Thanks for this suggestion, I’ve added it on our todo list and when the time comes developers will consider it. However I can’t promise anything for sure regarding a possible implementation as we have a long list with feature requests and we have to choose carefully what features will be added.
