Good afternoon,
This theme allows you to use an image as the background in your footer section. The theme documentation doesn’t give any guidance about the appropriate size for the footer background.
I decided to upload a rather large background image because I have been told it is easier to size down than size up. I made two versions of my image, which is of a sword on a pink background. The first is 3840 by 2160. The second is 1920 by 1080. Both images look crisp and clean on Photoshop. After uploading them to WordPress both of them still looked crisp and clean. I sacrificed considerable performance in order to have good image quality.
I tried using both images as my footer background, and both of them came out extremely blurry. I can’t understand it for the life of me. It isn’t like I uploaded tiny images and told them to cover a large pixel area. I uploaded clean, crisp images of the same size or bigger than any computer monitor and they went from clean to blurry the second I used them as background images. Help!
Hello,
There is a setting in wp that most people miss when uploading background images. Please make sure it is set to full size here: http://screencast.com/t/kD5wSZWp
Thank you!
Unfortunately, this didn’t work for me. It is a full sized image at 1920 by 1080. I can’t find anywhere on the back end of my site that says “attachment display settings” like there was in your screenshot. There is a page that says attachment details and it has the image listed at the appropriate size- 1920 by 1080. I can’t understand why it is doing this for the life of me.
When I inspected the element, it told me it is using 300px by 169 px. But I don’t know how to change it and get it to use the correct one.
It looks like someone came in and fixed the problem for me, but nobody told me how the problem was fixed so I still don’t understand how to prevent this from happening in the future.
Hello brianzulberti,
In future, you will have to be careful, regarding on the size of images when choosing the background to be the higher one -> http://screencast.com/t/hwbVc6gfhlHx
Thanks for the message!
Hi Catalin and Bogdan:
My “media upload page” doesn’t give me the option to select the picture size.
The box that this red arrow is pointing to – doesn’t show up on my upload page: http://screencast.com/t/hwbVc6gfhlHx
What could be wrong?
