I’m trying to change the custom sidebar and the sidebar position from post settings but it doesn’t seems to apply. Is there a bug in this function or am I doing something the wrong way? Is there an option to set default custom sidebar for all posts?

Not in post settings but in Blog and posts template.

Hello,

The sidebar on posts can be either set to default: http://screencast.com/t/eQoi1ymfeDnk in this case the sidebar position and sidebar structure will be grabbed from the primary category: https://forum.tagdiv.com/primary-category/ if the primary category has no specific sidebar selected: http://screencast.com/t/IyXIbjxGrTaj it will fall back to the blog post template from template settings.
It’s a hierarchical/cascade system. The post falls back to the category and the category falls back to the blog post if no special setting is added on either one.

I hope this helps.
Thank you!

So the post template settings doesn’t override the category settings?

Hello,
It can override the category if you change the sidebar from default. Each post can have it;s own sidebar if it’s selected on the specific post. Only if the setting is left to the default sidebar will it fall back to the category sidebar. Setting a specific option on the post will remain on the post.
Thank you!

Theme panel -> Layout Settings -> Template Settings -> Blog and posts template

This doesn’t seem to work. I’m setting a custom sidebar for the posts but it keeps showing the one that I have set in category.

If you have one set in the category and the post is left to default, it will grab the one from the primary category: https://forum.tagdiv.com/primary-category/ if you select a custom one for a post it will show that one, not the one from the category. but if you use cache, it will have to be cleared as the other sidebar could be served through the cache until it clears. you set a custom sidebar on the post itsel;f. the blog and post template is the last one in the hierarchy. If you want a custom sidebar on a specific post, add it to the post itself in post edit.
Thank you!
