If things go wrong when using a child theme it probably means the child theme was not created properly or you have some custom code in there that alters the theme functionality. Please re-created the child theme using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Do you have any custom modification in your child theme files?
If you have, please make a backup and install the unmodified child theme provided with the theme, you can find it in code folder and check if you still have issues.
Also check this without any plugins active except Visual Composer and clear all your caches.
