How to disable the submenu in the main menu

Hello, I need some help about how the main menu works: when I clic on a link (category) it shows a submenu with other random categories, with a sort of filter to choose other categories. Is there any option to disable this?
Here’s a picture with the submenu highlighted in yellow, I don’t want it to appear.

actually I wish that the whole area under the menu did not appear. I took a look in the code, and saw the class subcategory-header and category-siblings, but I’m not really sure of how to hide them

It would be nice if the theme allowed us to disable that sub menu, because the categories template are very nice, but showing all those categories… to some it might be useless

The theme have option to deactivate those sub-categories for each category. If the indicated options is used that list wont be displayed on category page.

Indeed category template 3 does not display the subcategories, it was not designed like this. That template displays only breadcrumbs and the pull-down filter.
