Any information about this SEO issue?

This is usually from you changing your permalink structure and not creating 301 redirects to the original content; or you have something being loaded from your site out of the Newspaper folder which is not found. Often reinstalling theme will fix this kind of thing, as a file didn’t fully upload the first time.

At least that happened to me once. I made the mistake of using my FTP software to decompress the zip, and files were missing.

hi,

quitifua6 have you used 301 redirects like Christopher Simmons suggested?

Thanks for you message.

Yes I’m using 301 – http://i.imgur.com/Ew6auCZ.png

Also it says I missing this tag –> http://i.imgur.com/g4yx4bf.jpg

h2 tag is optional not required for SEO, only suggested as it’s a second level headline for use on pages/posts … you can use h2 tags anywhere in your pages or posts…

I often use them as subheads below the image in posts, or at top of page.

I generally use h3 tags for section heads in posts, or chapter starts, etc. h3 is also the common level used for sidebars, and various other headline elements in the theme.

Ok, but if you take a look at the picture http://i.imgur.com/blf4XzG.png
one without / and the other one with / .. 404 soft error is like duplicate content or something like that. I uninstall the theme and upload the newest update of Newspaper but still getting this problem

@quitifua6
Those errors were almost a month ago it seems like from the image.

Why not click “fixed” then check again tomorrow?

That error might have been temporary and not happening “right now.”

Post count: 37

Yes I keep clicking fix but it keeps coming back. I click fix it went away but today same error came back

I reinstall the theme, still getting this http://i.imgur.com/OIyy8qk.jpg
Do. You see how one has the / at the end and the other one doesn’t

Shouldn’t the URL show your full URL and not /v3/ ?

In my webmaster tools when it shows soft 404 errors it shows the full site URL.

Likely something with your permalinks, tag or category removed, but still being linked to, etc. The trailing slash is usually set in Yoast SEO or similar, or may be in your permalink settings (compare them in two browser windows side by side is helpful).

Not a theme issue, but how you’ve setup your content, links, and permalink structure.

Nothing wrong with a soft 404 error if you have a few. It happens — I have some inbound broken links from some other site, where THEY linked to bad content. So, it makes a 404 error… and like so what. That is why the 404 page is there.

I have 20 soft 404 errors out of 21,000 pages. Not a big deal. Mostly bad links to content from 2005-07 that don’t exist.

my domain is in a subdirectory –> http://i.imgur.com/UGssw2X.jpg

those are the 2 soft 404

Post count: 37

i meant to say my wordpress site live in a sub folder call v3

Post count: 9544

Ah. Makes sense on subdirectory

If you click on one of the 404s in Google webmaster tools does it say WHERE the soft 404s are being linked FROM ?.

If pages on your site, you may want to go to one of those pages and look at the META data at header and footer and see if anything is linking into that folder with wrong URL.

If you’re using child theme, make sure you have any referential links consistently with a trailing slash.

Alternately, you could use Yoast SEO and activate the “enforce trailing slash” which will force a trailing slash on everything and redirect anything which is missing it. Might be simplest fix for you, if you exhaust everything else.

With trailing is linking from without trailing –> http://i.imgur.com/bccBcw8.jpg
And without trailing is linking from differents regular post –> http://i.imgur.com/HhPqsE2.jpg.

I try accessing others Newspaper theme folder and it comes back blank. But when I try accessing my I get an error. –> http://lacoquillita.com/v3/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/

Likely some file or plugin or something is missing a trailing slash in the path; with a “literal” path vs the [theme path] use by WP. (I’m doing not accurate terminology there.. just using general terms.)

No idea. I don’t recommend using stars in your URLs, though.
