Can this be done with Newspaper theme?

I need to publish a magazine archives. Say volume 1, 2, 3… represented in this image with Blue, Yellow and Green boxes. When a person clicks say on the Blue, it should open a set of clickable images as shown below the boxes in the same image as small blue boes. When a user clicks on the Yellow image, it would open yellow images (linked to different .pdf files) and likewise by clicking on the Green box, all corresponding clickable images/files should open.

Can this kind of thing be done by Newspaper theme/VC? If not, any suggestion for a plugin?

Thanks.

error correction: Read “small blue boxes” instead of “small blue boes”

Hello,

This seems to be possible through a tab element from visual composer. A tab element lets you create a menu-like element but you will not be able to add images on the top as you describe. You can add text and then open images in a tab sort of like the tab element here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_magazine/#1443167629827-7d05eee4-619dhttp://screencast.com/t/esmenAvLIah

Thank you!

I thought so and after you suggested I tried. I used Image gallery and linked images to different .pdf files. Seems to do the job but I can’t find a way to add space between images. Here is a sample I picked up from the net. That’s what I need to do. Any suggestion?

Also I can see the image gallery is not responsive?!

hello,

Please provide an example of how you are implementing the images and a link to your site so i can inspect it.

Thank you!

Here is the link. The page is not fully designed yet but I have published it temporarily so you can check it.

What I have done is, inserted a Tab element. Entered three tabs- Volume 1, 2, 3 (more to come). In Volume 1 I entered an Image gallery element with 6 images representing six articles. I linked every image to an article (.pdf file) using Custom link.

On desktop the result looks ok (need space between the images) but when i reduce the browser window size to check how it would look on other devices, the results are different as shown – here and here

Is it because of the image size?

Recap: I need to insert space between the images. I need them to be responsive.

Hope you can help. Thanks in any case for your time.

Hi,
Unfortunately it seems these option cannot be altered as this is a visual composer element, not a theme element. The implementation does not allow me to change the responsiveness properly nor can I ad any spacing besides the images without breaking the layout.
One solution would be to either add in separate images, not a gallery or add a text element where you can create the layout yourself. The gallery does not seem to respond well to any alteration.
here is an example of images added separately: http://screencast.com/t/ttT0y3cqYR
Thanks.

Thank you Bogdan for your time. Adding separate images is fine. Just need to know how you placed it next to each other in a row. Have you used a 4-column layout?

Yes, I cheated a bit as we only recommend using the 3 highlighted columns for the layout, but inside a tab element, we can make an exception 😛 I added a row inside the tab and split the row in 4 columns Then I added an image in each column.
Thanks.

PS the split row will work with visual composer elements properly. Our theme elements are the ones that cannot be used inside other columns than these ones: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
