Hi guys,
I got the job to translate http://www.biblword.net into spanish (http://www.palabrasbiblicas.net/). Much of the translations by WPML work. But some static elements can’t be translated it seems.
– I want a different logo on the Spanish website. How can I do this?
– On the top right of the website you see several links to twitter, facebook and so on. Can I change this in spanish to different links?
– On the english version I have integrated Facebook Comments of the English Facebook page. Can I also change this plugin into the Spanish Facebook Page comments?
I searched and searched, tried and tried.. but cant get these things to work. I hope you guys can help me out.
Hi
1. The theme don’t have such an option but you can achieve a similar rezult using a set of conditions. You can use get_site_url() to change the logo image depending by site’s url. The condition must be added in logo.php and logo-h1.php, here is a basic example: http://screencast.com/t/64TrqOdgVUT
2. You can follow the same implantation and define new urls for Spanish version of the site in td_social_icons.php file: http://screencast.com/t/DrnltPkOzo7 You will also need to change the way urls for social networks are generated.
3. Try to follow the implementation indicated here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/anybody-implemented-fb-comments/ and use the function indicated at point 1 to change the fb page.
Note that this is a very complex task which involve many changes and tests in order to be achieved. For the moment we can’t offer customization services so if you really need this and you’re not aware of the steps that must be taken in this regard my advice is to look for someone who can help you with implementation or hire a developer to do it for you.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi Andrei,
Thanks for you answer!
1) Covered it right now in a more simple way (language code): -> if(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE==’es’){ and so on.
Done this. Thanks.
2) Could you provide me with some example code on “You will also need to change the way urls for social networks are generated.”. Thanks in advance.
3) I think I can make this work. Thanks for your answer!
Hi
The links are generated by get_icons() function which takes two parameters. You need to edit the file which generate the top widget and change $social_link parameter with a custom link, basically you need to built another array for Spanish version of the site: http://screencast.com/t/5poR15VWK To get the exact social_id for each social network inspect the theme panel here: http://screencast.com/t/hDYNYtRPsVBG
Hope this helps!
Thanks!
Thanks Andrei! I will fix this.
For the other issues. This is how i solved it (when other people run into the same problems).
1) In logo.php and logo_h1.php I added this code
if(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='es'){
$td_customLogo = 'URL TO SPANISH LOGO';
$td_customLogoR = 'URL TO SPANISH LOGO RETINA';
}
elseif(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='en'){
$td_customLogo = td_util::get_option('tds_logo_upload');
$td_customLogoR = td_util::get_option('tds_logo_upload_r');
}
2) Still working on this one
3) In the header.php file I added the Facebook snippet, but made some variables. As you can see I made the URL in de script part variable with 2 variables. One for the app ID and one for the language.
<?php
if(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='es'){
$td_comments_language = 'YOUR SPAIN FACEBOOK APP ID';
$language = 'es_ES';
}
elseif(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='en'){
$td_comments_language = 'YOUR EN FACEBOOK APP ID';
$language = 'en_US';
}
?>
<div id="fb-root"></div>
<script>(function(d, s, id) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/<?php echo $language ?>/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.8&appId=<?php echo $td_comments_language ?>";
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script>
In the loop-single files I added where needed this part. You can see a get_permalink here. This is so the comments on each blogpost are unique on the specific URL.
<div class="fb-comments" data-href="<?php echo get_permalink( $post->ID ); ?>" data-width="100%" data-numposts="5"></div>
Andrei,
So this would be enough? Can’t get the thing working 🙁
td_social_icons.php:
static $spanish_social_url = array(
'facebook' => 'http://url',
'twitter' => 'http://otherurl'
);
In combination with this in top-widget.php.
if(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='es'){
$td_get_social_network = array(
'social_id'=> 'spanish_social_url'
);
}
elseif(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='en'){
$td_get_social_network = td_util::get_option('td_social_networks');
}
HI
You only need to edit top-widget.php like here: http://screencast.com/t/5poR15VWK The code should be like here:
if(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='es'){
$td_get_social_network = array(
'facebook'=> 'spanish_facebook_url',
'pinterest' => 'spanish_pinterest_url'
);
}
elseif(ICL_LANGUAGE_CODE=='en'){
$td_get_social_network = td_util::get_option('td_social_networks');
}
Thanks!
