On the home page/ Travel Demo, under Post Loop Settings, I have assigned the following categories
1,106,108,109,101
That works fine, however, my client wants that order to ALWAYS be the same. Currently, it changes according to which category has the most recent post.
Is there a way to keep the order of categories IDS
1,106,108,109,101
always in that order, no matter which may have had the most recent post? FYI, category 1, features my client, thus he wants it on top.
Any help would be appreciated.

the order of the categories that show up in the block is not set by the category id’s but rather the sorting options found here: http://screencast.com/t/qfWPIS4G41a
Sorry but there is no simple way of maintaining the same category order as there is no custom sorting order for posts.

Reading between the lines, are you saying it IS POSSIBLE, but would require custom code from a developer?
Everything is possible if you have the proper knowledge. But this will require substantial coding skills. There is no solution we can provide for this. You will have to hire a developer to do it as we do not have a customization department.

If you find a solution for this please share. I have the exact same scenario where we need to anchor the categories in specific sections of the block and have the most recent post show from each.
I’m going to look into the block code to see if it can be modified to hardcode in the category placement for the grid block.
@WalnutHillDesign please keep me posted and I’ll do the same. No solution on my end ATM. Such tweaks are beyond my skills and I’d have to turn to a developer, which I likely can’t afford.
