Hello,
I am trying to set a custom sidebar for my “news” page or blog index page but for some reason it is staying the same as the single post.
I have tried creating a new sidebar, changing it to full width; nothing seems to change.
Can you help?

Hello,

If you do not use a static page for a homepage, you should change the sidebar for your page from here: http://screencast.com/t/CGWkwOlCuP
If you use a static page, you can create a sidebar on pages using a split row or the widgetized sidebar element

Thank you!

I’m sorry Bogdan, I’m missing something and I am not sure why – I think I have tried that, with no luck. I’m using a static pages for the home page I don’t use sidebars because I wanted it to truly look somewhat like a newspaper see here: christiantruther.com
What I am trying to heavily promote and use is this page: christiantruther.com/news (which is our blog page) and that is the page I am unable to change the sidebar for.
I can change it like you showed me, I was just hoping to be able to change it on that specific page and leave the single post sidebar alone.
Is that possible?

Hello,

That is the setting that affects the blog page as well as posts, but posts are only affected if no sidebar is set to the primary category of the post. The post sidebar goes in a a 3-step system. It’s not that complicated actually. if you have no specific sidebar set to a post, it will fall back to the sidebar set on the primary category of the post: https://forum.tagdiv.com/primary-category/. If the primary category does not have any sidebar set, it will fall back to the blog and post template I mentioned above. So the solution in removing the sidebar on the blog page abut keeping it on posts is to set sidebars in category pages so you cut the fallback system

I hope this helps
Thanks.
