I am running Newspaper 7.4. Suddenly my featured images on any new video posts are too small. I have checked on three installations and on all of them the featured image is just 295×166 with this video: https://vimeo.com/62692150. In previous versions of Newspaper it used to be 1280×720 with the same video. Even on an older YouTube video I can only get 480×360: https://youtu.be/ZqxpFJSog6k. Other YouTube videos seem to work fine – the resulting featured image is maxresdefault.jpg.
Could you please see if you can recreate this on your end?

I ran a few tests and it depends on the video itself. I got the same sizes as you mention because the video has no bigger thumb. i also got the same size in newspaper 7.4: http://screencast.com/t/C5FuCpiS
If the video has a small thumb, then there is little to be done about it except use a thumbnail upscale plugin as our theme does not enlarge thumbs. It only crops them. Some videos have small thumbs and one have bigger ones. The theme cannot control this. It grabs the thumb exactly as it is provided by the network. It does not resize the thumb except crop it to fit the container.

I have doublechecked with this video: https://vimeo.com/62689673. I published it here on Feb. 9, 2016: http://www.swedentips.se/stockholm-travel-video/ . The resulting thumb was 1280 × 721. Now if I publish the same video on the same site again, I only get 295 × 166.
I cannot imagine that the owners of this Vimeo channel have reuploaded all their videos or altered any thumbs since February or that Vimeo has done that. Of course I don’t know for sure but it seems unlikely.
Is there not any other setting I could adjust to get full-size thumbs of these videos. 295 × 166 does not work well with block 3 and some other blocks.
