How to cut the titles earlier on the index

On a module 11 entry-title td-module-title how do i control after what number of characters the title cuts and shows “…”?
My titles are too long and reaching 3 lines shifting things down. What i want is reduce the number of characters shown so the “…” appears earlier. I don’t know where in the files is the php that controls it. Please show me the file, thank you!
