I’m upgrading to the latest version of the Newspaper app, and when I go and install and then activate the revslider plugin, the site will consistently throw a bad gateway. If I don’t activate the plugin, the site loads just fine. Has anyone else had this issue? Its hosted with wpengine if that helps.

Please disable all other plugins and clear cache before installing revolution slider. There could be a conflict between the slider and another plugin.

I did as you suggested, but it doesn’t seem to work. When installing Revolution Slider, once it is enabled, the queries it is trying to return time out and the site and the admin go down with 502 bad gateways. I had WP-Engine confirm it is the plugin causing the issues. Any other suggestions?
What version of revolution slider do you use? Please disable and delete the plugin and install it again by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-install-revolution-slider-v5/

Bogdan, if I disable and delete it, will all of the slides that have been set up be deleted as well?

The slides you create will not be deleted by deleting the plugin. You should create a back-up just in case though.
