Since most recent Theme Update (version: 7.6.1) our ability to Login using the existing Login/Join feature at top left margin of Site no longer works. I am taken to a Login Box. After filling in my credentials and clicking LOG IN, I am simply returned to the same Page but not logged in. Site is https://www.bizcatalyst360.com/
Hello,
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
If the issue is still not resolved, please contact us on our email address at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to your site and wp-admin (login information and admin rights) so we can login and investigate. Please also include a link to this topic so we can identify you.
Thank you!
Following your advice, we disabled all plugins and confirmed there was no child theme in use. I left Visual Composer active. I cleared my local browser cache (repeatedly). Then tested the login, and it did NOT work as expected.
When logging in, I noticed only the very first post, on the home page, had an edit button (in the upper-left corner of the first, big, featured image on the Homepage). When I clicked any other post, I observed no edit button displayed on any of them. When I tried to navigate to wp-admin, I was directed to the WordPress login page. It seems the login feature does not fully log a person in?
Question: Can we not include an inline, WordPress driven login, instead of the pop-up window? I’m not a developer, but in the WordPress Core login page code, I can see where it calls the appropriate script to actually log in. In the theme pop-up window, I can see design code (CSS, DIV tags, etc.) but not any reference to the actual login (to WordPress itself) function. I’m assuming it’s wrapped up in some Javascript, Ajax, jQuery, etc. somewhere? Maybe Ajax has an issue with postback (I don’t know)?
Hello,
Yes, it is a js code that does the trick. Unfortunately you cannot replace the login window that easy. We have no reports of the login not working but please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and we will take a look at the issue and try to figure out why this happens. Please include a link to your site and wp-admin as well as a link to this topic.
Thank you!
