Hi,
I’m trying to edit the homepage of my site ultimatehomelife.com – but when I go to the page I have set as my current homepage, click on “edit page”, click on the “+” sign of the Visual Composer, I no longer see the composition page with all the boxes I can move around.
And, if I try to create a new page and implement Visual Composer on that, whenever I try to click the “+” sign and use any of Add Element, Add Text Block, Add Template features, whatever I click on inside just prompts the “loading” sign to keep on loading forever, with nothing actually changing on the visual composer page itself.
Hello,
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hi Bogdan,
I tried doing what you said and re-editing that page with visual composer, nothing happened.
I also tried creating a new page and seeing if visual composer works with that, again nothing happened.
Haven’t added any sort of custom code to my theme panel or theme files, and not using a child theme, only using the Newspaper theme I’ve downloaded from here.
OK,
Please contact us on our email address at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to your site and wp-admin (login information and admin rights) so we can login and investigate. Please also include a link to this conversation.
Thank you!
Hi Bogdan,
This problem is solved now – thanks!
I do however have another problem now, some of the featured images for their respective posts that appear on the homepage don’t appear in full size. They get cut off from all sides and just don’t look “full”.
I tried doing the “regenerate thumbnails” trick you guys suggest in the documentation, but it didn’t work.
Hi,
Please make sure the thumbnails for the specific blocks are active in the theme panel: https://www.screencast.com/t/zsJ9U6uyKDf
and then use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Thank you!
Alright, so if you go to this homepage of mine: http://ultimatehomelife.com/
In the first block where there are 7 boxes bundled together, a featured image for an article about dog barking should appear titled “Why Dogs Bark And How To Stop Your Dogs From Barking”. You’ll notice right away that the entire text on the featured image isn’t properly displayed.
If this image doesn’t appear there the first time you land on the homepage, refresh it one or a few times until it appears, because the homepage takes random posts from that category, so it may or may not appear the first time you land on the homepage. One or a few refreshes and you’ll see it.
Hello,
The article you mention has a featured image and it appears in the block like so: https://www.screencast.com/t/ebAuVZaimg6
That is because of the image aspect ratio. It is probably a wide image that must be positioned in a square box.
You should not use wide images when you have text as they will get cropped and the text will not get shown.
Our theme will crop images to fit the container.
Thank you!
You should edit the image and change the aspect ratio for it
Add a top and bottom white border as you have a wide image you want to show in a nearly square container. Edit it in your preferred image editor and add a top and bottom white space in order to show all of the text.
Thank you!
