On my page (http://www.fishinglive.cz/) the category on the post sometimes shows main category and sometimes sub-category and I can’t really find any difference between the settings.
Is there any way to just forced the page to show only top category?
Thank you.
Hi,
On blocks and modules the theme will display the posts main category as tag. If you choose a primary category on a post it’s tag will be displayed there, but if a post has multiple categories the first category will be displayed. More information here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/primary-category/ and here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/category-tag-on-modulesblocks/
Thanks
Thank you very much for your reply,
now, I am able to change the showed category manually, but what I still don’t quite get is this: while my post has multiple categories, they are not on the same level, the article is in the main category, and then in a subcategory of the main category. Is there any way that the top category is viewed automatically as “the ONE” or will they always be on the same level and I will always have to choose manually?
I have noticed that in one particular instance, the subcategory is always shown (doesn’t matter if I click on the main or on the sub first) while with other main categories, sometimes the main is shown and sometimes the sub is shown. Is there any particular reason for this? Maybe, when I created those categories I did something?
I hope you can understand all this mess, thank you for your reply.
Hi,
If you did not change the category hierarchy the categories displayed should always be the same. They should not be different. There can be parent categories and child categories (or subcategories)- https://codex.wordpress.org/Manage_Categories_SubPanel I can see in your mega menu that there is something wrong with the structure. A mega menu should be created like this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/mega-menu/ using a parent category with subcategories and posts assigned only to those subcategories. If you assign the post to the parent category also, then the parent category will be displayed. You can change the categories on posts in bulk like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/zNdo3cNQPSs if needed.
Thanks
