I have the Video theme of Newspaper, and I’m using categories to sort my videos. I have 2 questions:
1. I want to show a featured image for each category on the top. Right now I can add a background image but that’s not a solution. I’m using Style 8 for the header and I want the image to be only inside the default gray box.
2. How can I have a page displaying my categories with a thumbnail and title, just like regular posts inside a category page.

Unfortunately categories do not have a featured image. If you want to only display an image at the top of the category inside the transparent container you can use this topic as an example:

I read all the threads but I need a different thing. Since you offer the ability to upload a background image, I just want a CSS code that puts that image inside the transparent container. I’m sure you can work something out. That way I won’t need to go and and a different code for each category (I’m planning on having a lot of categories).

Unfortunately I wish it were that easy :). Css cannot make the background only show up inside that particular area. The background is added on a separate container behind the content and it’s not easy to resize the whole container. Sorry
The css method we provided is the easiest one. If you require a different implementation, we suggest hiring a developer to help out as we cannot offer any custom work at the moment.

Sorry but We have not tested this so there is no solution I can provide. Plugin implementation is not part of the theme support unfortunately. We suggest hiring a freelancer from sites like studio.envato.com

I am experiencing the same issue. Not sure that the “other plugins” idea is the solution. What I have noticed is that the theme-generated Feature image is corrupt. If I re-save the image and reupload it, it will work fine, but the theme needs to be fixed to generate a featured image from the video that is not corrupt.
The theme does not need any fixing as the featured image or video works properly without plugins. Because it does not work properly with an untested plugin, does not mean it needs fixing. The plugin is not tested. Untested plugins are not covered by the theme support and they are not part of the standard functionality of the theme.
