Im simply looking to remove the /category/ from the url.. there’s no need for it on my site.
Ive tried changing this in wp settings > permalinks – but no matter what selected this changes nothing.
Please advise.

In order to remove the word “category”, you will have to use seo Yoast to do it. Please install and activate the plugin and check the permalink settings from the plugin.

Alternately, you can Google how to add a custom hack to your functions.php file if you don’t want to use YOAST, to remove the /category/ “slug” from URLs.
However, theme has no control over the permalinks structure, which is part of WordPress.
Yoast works.. just had to activate advanced settings in the plugin.. — couldn’t find it before. thanks
