Quick question:
Where in the database are references to featured images stored, where I can check which featured image is for a particular post?

Hello Navito,
You should check the wp-_postmeta table from your database because there would have to be loaded your all images. For more references in this regard, please try finding some online solution in this regard because this request is not theme related. It is WordPress Related.
