When I start a new post I have to delete all of the content layout boxes from my home page as it is there by default when I make a new post.
Why is this?

Sorry but I do not understand. you create a new post and you have to remove content from the homepage? There is no link between the content of the homepage and the creation of a post. Please provide more details to what happens when you create a new post. Provide screenshots and a link to your site please.

Hi, when I go to add a new post.. the new post page is pre-populated with the content and widgets from the homepage and I have to delete those elements before I can add a post.

This is a strange issue.
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
