Post Settings linked to Publishing Posts role

Hi,

A writer of my website, who has the “Author” role told me that he cannot see the “Post Settings” function of the Newspaper theme.

I have installed the User Role Editor plugin and I have discovered that the function only showed up if they have Publishing post role.

Is there any way to change this, because I don’t want any of my writers to publish prematurely any of unchecked posts.

Thanks.

Hi,

The theme uses the default WordPress user roles and capabilities as specified here – https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities
So an author role has access to the post settings like in the screenshot you provided – https://www.screencast.com/t/ZMBfDkIIkrGq
This can be seen here in the theme files – https://www.screencast.com/t/o5N0Vlot9kQh
Only anything lower in the user role hierarchy like contributors and subscribers do not have access to these features. If you would like to review the posts before publishing you could change their role to contributor.
The theme panel is available only for admin level users though, and you can not have specific sections of the panel available to specific users.

Thanks
