Hi,
I am using the Post grid widget, and since the new upgrade, users that are not logged into our website, see the widget listing “All Posts” sorted by date, and it ignores the “Narrow Data Source” parameter. This results in 2 rows of content to be the same. You can see it on our homepage: http://www.learnjazzstandards.com.
If the user is logged in, then it works as it should.

Yes indeed it seems the data source is being ignored but it also does this on a WP default theme. It is a visual composer element, not a theme element. It seems the data source is not working properly. We will have to wait for an update from the plugin developer for a fix.

With your pagebuilder, can I replicate that same experience / style? Please I would download and try it, but the GitHub link in the forum is broken.
Right now I had to just hard code pictures and links, but that is not a good long-term update.
I also see that there is a VC update available. Maybe you can push that sooner than later? Not sure when you get access.

Yes we just released an update including the latest one from VC but I;m not sure they made any implementation regarding the post grid. It is a security fix as the changelog suggests: https://www.screencast.com/t/bktyUbPZ6O
You can try to use our own blocks and grids in order to have better control over the content. Our page builder still has the same shortcodes and the same sorting options and filters only it’s moved to the front-end.
The custom page builder is included in our side-project named ionmag and can be downloaded from here: https://www.wpion.com/free-news-theme/ then you can install the page builder from the free theme. However we do not recommend using both visual composer and our own page builder for the moment. It is still experimental on neswpaper and newsmag.

Do we have timeline on when this will get be fixed. This is an important feature to have. Or if there is something I can do “hack it” to work that would be great.
Unfortunately it is not we who must fix it. It is the visual composer plugin developers. Visual composer is not created by us. We simply have an agreement with the plugin author so we can provide the plugin free of charge and use our theme elements together with it. The post grid is not one of our elements but rather a plugin element. We did not create it and it is not up to us to make any fixes regarding the visual composer elements. In order to differentiate which element comes from the theme and which are plugin-specific elements you can check the element lists in the plugin. The theme elements are found under the blocks tab: https://www.screencast.com/t/XkPCkYyuSuig The other tabs are not theme specific and are not created by us.
I recommend using our own theme specific blocks and not visual composer elements. You cna use any block to show the posts not just the post grid.
