I have currently configured the related articles to show from post categories but it only displays the latest articles. I even switched to tags but it only displays the latest articles. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi,
The Related articles section on the post page will pick and display posts that have at least one category or tag in common, related to the currently displayed post. The only options at the moment are to choose from same category or tag related posts, and to modify the number of posts
