I tried to add content to the category page and it looks awful.

How can I edit the description using a WYSIWYG editor on category pages. Any plugin or a workaround for this?

Appreciate your help!

Simplest way is just add the information on the category description page for each description, as part of normal WordPress function, not part of the theme. I don’t think it allows for WYSIWYG (e.g., bold, italic, h2, etc.). But that is likely what you already tried. In old days we’d create custom category templates, but that’s a pain now with a complex theme like this.

Obviously searching the wordpress plugins repository is likely quicker than posting query here, but this one might work: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/categorytinymce

Thanks Chris.

I’ve already tried a couple of plugins but they didn’t work as desired. The one you mentioned has problems with WP 3.9 as per its author. This is what he has to say “Support for this plugin has now ended. When you update to WordPress 3.9 you will lose the editor for the bottom description.”

I’ve posted my question here as I couldn’t any viable solution for this anywhere. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

I got this working now. All I did was used html tags within the description attribute on the edit category page. Thanks.

Cool! I had heard one could call CSS styles for the category description, but hadn’t tried that yet (my category descriptions these days are somewhat short). 🙂
