That should not happen just by creating and adding a simple smart list to your post. The smart list should not break the page layout. I suggest you check any custom code you might have entered in the theme panel, or added to the theme files. If you are using a child theme switch to the main theme.
Also deactivate all the plugins except Visual composer, clear any caching installed on your website and check to see if this has any effect.

The Jetpack plugin is a very complex plugin, with many features. Some of them can cause problems with the theme. If you are positive about identifying this plugin as responsible, maybe you have an option or setting active in this plugin that is the source of the problem.
