The second item on our home page is a Block 11 displaying 3 posts. We have specified a list of post IDs to be drawn from for this block, and set the sort order to random. However, we are getting the same three posts (the latest ones) showing up no matter how often we refresh. Random posts works fine when I apply it to blocks that are filtered in different ways (i.e. by category).

Yes, if you specify the post id’s, only those id’s will show no matter the sorting option.
You cannot show other posts in a random sorting option if you already specified the exact 3 posts to show in the block. Please do not use the post id filter unless you want to show those exact posts and nothing else.

I know that. I only want those IDs to show, but there are more post IDs entered than articles displaying and I want those specific posts to rotate through randomly, not the same 3 out of 15 every time.
You know what, forget it. We’ll make a separate category instead of using post IDs.
The post ID filter will show the posts exactly in the order you set them in the field. Sorting options will not work with specific post id’s. You create the custom sorting by adding the id’s in the order you want them to show up in.
