Hello,
We have not tested newspaper 7 with the latest version of WordPress. We only tested newspaper version 8 which is the current version. We do not test old versions of our theme with new versions of WordPress or plugins. If you want to update and use the latest features of WordPress or plugins, you will have to update the theme as well.
