It seems you have another page set as homepage, not the default one. You can set any page as a homepage in the wordpress settings here: https://www.screencast.com/t/yUnAwHE4saV
Make sure it’s set to the page you want from the pages section.

Only if you install a demo with content, will the layout be pulled as well. You cannot get the layout if you do not install the demo content.
