Is there a way to switch this area to shuffle instead of displaying most recent related. I’d also like to remove the More from Author (display:none still will load it in the back end I imagine); which file do I hide it in Thanks.

If you would like to stop the More form author section from loading altogether, you can follow the solution from this topic

You will have to edit the file mentioned in the theme, and comment or remove the line of code as mentioned.
To change the default sorting of the Related articles, there is no option in the theme. But you could try something like this and see if it works for you
