Out of the blue, the featured images are not showing on homepage. All plugins and theme were updated to latest versions.

Hi,
The images seem to be displaying just fine at the moment, on the whole website

Almost at all times problems involving the images are caused by plugins. What you can do if this should happen again, is to check if this is the case by deactivating all the plugins except the ones provided with the theme. Then clear any caching installed, and see if the issue is fixed. After that it should be a matter of identifying the one responsible.
