Can I continue using this old child theme (Newspaper 7) until next update?

Thanks.

Hi,

How do I get the child theme working before your theme update? It doesn’t recognize Newspaper 8 as the parent.

Cheers.

Hi,

@tagdivstar
Yes you can use the child theme normally. That will not prevent you from using the child theme.

@Rani
You do not have to wait for the next update to use the child theme. The child theme is provided in the theme package and you can use it now. Please follow this guide
https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Simply place the child theme from the code folder, in your themes folder and activate it

Thanks

Well, actually it does not work. I installed it from Newspaper 8 files, and it did not recognize Newspaper 8 as it’s parent, the child theme is listed as “broken”. In style.css, the code is:
/*
Theme Name: Newspaper 7 Child theme
Theme URI: http://themeforest.net/user/tagDiv/portfolio
Description: Child theme made by tagDiv
Author: tagDiv
Author URI: http://themeforest.net/user/tagDiv/portfolio
Template: Newspaper
Version: 7.7c
*/

/* ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This file will load automatically when the child theme is active. You can use it
for custom CSS.
*/

Ok, this looks like I made a stupid error installing the theme. An error which should not able the theme function at all but it does 🙂 I had the theme installed in “/themes/Newspaper/Newspaper/” folder…

I need to reinstall it, sorry for the hassle.

Cheers
