i wuite like the instagram footer element – but the image size is too high a price to pay in the pagespeed penalty.
i appreciate they are served from instagram, but just wondered if anybody had found a work around solution to being served compressed/optimised images?

Sorry but our theme has no options for this. You can maybe try to use a plugin suych as WP Smush to optimize the images.
