Image upload Error

Hi,

for the first time I have some troubles with image uploads. I see that people have common troubles and the advice is to contact hosting page or change some system settings or whatever. I am talking about the media library.

1) I tryed to upload a JPEG (1920 x 1080, 2MB) and change it to PNG as well

“Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”

funny thing is that If I screenshot this picture, I am able to upload this screenshot

2) Another error is with PNG files

“HTTP error”

My version of wordpress is 4.8 and the Newspaper theme is up to date as well. I just moved to a new hosting with new domain but I dont use more plugins then before.

Hey,

I told to my hosting provider and we got some results. It was weird because I have the max limit / unlimited hosting and all the PHP should be okey.

I tried few more pictures and now I am sure that the main problem is in compression of the pictures in the Photoshop.

The same picture saved with Compression: The smallest/slow always failed but PNG saved with compression: None/fast was okey.

Maybe it will help to someone.

Best to upload web jpg images, with quality factor of perhaps 32-52.

*Not* Photoshop jpeg format.

In Photoshop do ‘save for web’ not ‘save as jpeg’ — two different formats.

Image would be more like 200kb not 2MB if saved as web jpg. 🙂

If uploading png, try doing png8 and switch to 64 colors, not png24 (only used when transparency needed; and best to upload these via FTP).
