I have a category called “Places” with lots of sub category. The sub categories are cities. I want to create a mega menu on it but the category is not showing.
Here’s the screenshot below:

I also noticed that the category is not showing Under LAYOUT SETTINGS >> CATEGORIES >> Per category settings
Here’s the screenshot:

Hi,
This is an unusual problem. The theme panel as well as the mega-menu category selection seem to be missing all the sub-categories as well, not just the parent category you mention.
Check if these categories are displaying in the category screen

What you could try is to deactivate all your plugins as a test, except the ones you have installed from the theme package, and clear any caching installed. Then see if anything changed.
Thanks
Hi,
Yes, the category is displaying in the category screen. In fact it can be seen when I create a menu as shown in my previous post.
Only that I can’t select it as a mega menu because it’s not there.
I already disabled all the plugins to no avail.
I suspect because I added a lot of sub categories on this category named “Places”
Hi Simion,
I confirmed that the vast list of categories is the cause of not showing the category to be created as Mega Menu.
I have 1,634 sub category under Places category. Try adding at least 1,347 sub category in Places category. When go to appearance >> menu, the click drop down list to “Make this a category mega menu” and you won’t see the Places category.
I hope you can fix this ASAP.
Thanks
Hi,
Yes that is a huge number of sub-categories to have. If I understand correctly you have 1.634 sub-categories assigned to the parent category. The mega-menu has a limit of 30 sub-categories set in order to be easy to use. A mega menu may not be appropriate to use with such a large number of categories.
I cannot test this, I would have to create too many categories to recreate the issue. Maybe you could create a parent category with a few sub-categories and use that as a mega-menu.
Thanks
