Has anyone used a RSS feed plugin to pull news from outside sources into the Newspaper Theme?
Any suggestions about which plugin to use?
Does it pull in images?
Is it possible to place the RSS feed into categories?

In my research I also came across WP RSS Aggregator quite a bit and includes a number of features https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rss-aggregator/
What I’m not sure about is what RSS aggregator has been tested with the Newspaper theme and/or if there are any problems (or ones to avoid).

I’ve been using Feedwordpress for several years and helped donate and provide feedback to its developement, and use it with a dozen sites with TagDiv themes (we publish from our mothership, and then have local/regional portals unrelated to the main site, but which includes content from the main site).
No idea on WP RSS Aggregator. Why not try it?
RSS import plugins have nothing to do with the ‘theme,’ — they pull in content into WP posts, optionally slot that into categories automatically and/or create new tags, and/or go into a default category you select. They don’t do anything else to your theme settings, although you might be able to select some theme settings via hooks/filters.
Meaning, they don’t have to be ‘compatible’ with theme to work, they need to be compatible with WP 4.7 and higher to work.
Quick question on RSS as it relates to this theme…
Is there a way to pull down news articles from other sources via the RSS and have the posts simply link to the article on the other site when you click it? No article in the actual post.
As an analogous example, see what Barstool Sports does with their homepage feed. The “sponsored” or “ads” are simply links to an external site:
http://www.barstoolsports.com/

Feedwordpress does this. It can put stories into dbase and then put into modules or cat indexes, but links go to external sites. However, you need something like auto post thumbail to add photo to featured image.

You seem to be very knowledgeable with this plugin. What is the best means to pull down the image from the linked article to be displayed on your site as the featured image for that post?
I’m trying to use the FWP+: SIC ‘Em but its not properly pulling down the images.
