I’m trying to use Module 7 on some category pages and on part of my homepage, but when for some reason the featured images don’t appear – all I get are the headline and tags. See it here: http://brazilophiles.com/blog/people/

I have tested this and works fine, if the feature image is set then it will show on module 7.

I am setting featured images manually rather than using this option because I feel it’s too limiting since it automatically places featured images at the top of the post – and sometimes the featured image needs to go someplace else. So is there no way to have Module 7 work without having this option enabled?

Unfortunately you can’t as the module 7 being extended from module 1 is using the excerpt, including the featured image and the module 1 is using the whole content.
As an alternative to the featured image set manually you could try to enable the featured image from theme panel then set the post from post editing panel to the gallery format, like this: http://screencast.com/t/hmOJ6328qNi In this way the featured image it’s not showed on post and you will be able to place it where you want on your post and in those cases in which it’s convenient fro you that it showed at the beginning of the content use the standard post format.

Thanks for the response. I don’t think this workaround is feasible, since I’m sure it would affect everything I’ve already published and I don’t want to go back and republish hundreds of posts … so no Module 1 or Module 7 for me!
