Small size thumbs for youtube video posts

I’m having a problem with thumbs auto-created, only in the case of video(youtube) posts.
The biggest thumb size I get, is 480×357 and in this format hqdefault-480×357.jpg
I can’t use this size on featured posts in top slider so I keep uploading other pics as featured image to solve this size issue.

The strange thing is that, sometimes I’m getting the correct sizes e.g 1384×841 in this format maxresdefault2.jpg which is different than the other.
I deactivated jetpack but nothing.

Is this a youtube issue?
Why the differences on thumb sizes and names?

Hi,

I’m not sure, please send me a link to your site so I can check this. Also send a video link which generates this issue for you.
Have you tried to check if this still happens if you disable all plugin? If not please try this also and let me know.
