I am not sure what is happening but for some reason when I load the website in Chrome or Safari on iPad it will crash the page. I saw the page for a split second and then it crashed and keeps crashing. Is there a known issue and if so what can I do to fix this?
I have turned off the Tag Div Social counter plugin
Turned off sharing in post settings
Turned off social icons in the header settings
There aren’t any javascript pop ups added to the site
We use slider revolution for the front page but I disabled that and the page still did not load
I do not have any plugins running other than
tagDiv Composer
Slider Revolution (Disabled and tested no change)
Jetpack by WordPress.com (Disabled and tested no change)
Akismet Anti-Spam (Disabled and tested no change)
I checked for malware and the only files that were changed were by GoDaddy
Those files are
gd-config.php (GoDaddy added for their configuration)
wp-admin/install.php (Removed for security should not effect theme)
wp-config-sample.php (Removed for security should not effect theme)
wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php (Removed for security should not effect theme)
What should I do now
Try clearing your cache in both iOS apps, as you might have some funky thing on your device causing that.
Does the demo on ThemeForest for the theme do the same thing?
If you did the Securi site scan and you’re okay, then could be something else.
Is your site running https? Chrome will start kicking up a ‘warning’ for anything not https very soon. Right now warning, pretty soon it will say ‘possibly not safe’ …
Did you check your ‘widgets’ for anything weird going on there?
Hey, so I finally worked out what the issue was. The designer exported the logo images at like 18000w by 12000h and once I took those images out it started working. I resized them myself and it is working now.
Really appreciate the help in trying to sort this out. All the troubleshooting was pointing to a theme issue but I never thought to take out images so my bad on that. Again, thanks for all the help!
Yikes!
the famous 300dpi image used for the web trick 🙂
I had client do that with their email signature, I kept trying to figure out why there was like a 2 sec delay opening her messages on my 100/mbt connection to my dedicated mail server. Turns out she had a 4MB image in her signature vs a 14kb image. (doh)
Lucky you sorted it!
