Is there any way whatsoever to retain hit counter functionality with Facebook Instant Articles?
Like dropping some additional code or something. Because a lot of hits come from Facebook and the counter doesn’t register them so posts appear to be far less visited than they actually are.
Personally I have no problem hiding the hit counter, but our audience has gotten used to it so I’d like to keep it if possible.
That’s what I thought. Thanks.
Would it work with Google’s Accelerated Mobile Pages by any chance?
Hi,
There is a solution in this topic that you could try, to count both default post page views and AMP views

Thanks
Hi @menneskedyr , is Facebook Instant Articles working for you on this theme?
Yes, I got it working with no problems. I just followed Facebook’s instructions without having to do anything extra. There were some issues with image galleries in the first day or two, but it sorted itself out. I think tagDiv slide gallery wasn’t working, but regular galleries were.
(I have since stopped using it for other reasons and am now implementing Google’s AMP).

@menneskedyr appreciate your reply, did you get it working using the wordpress instant article plugin or direct rss method?
I used the plugin. First I signed up for IA, activated the plugin, claimed the URL, modified some styles and after three days my site was approved. It was really straightforward.
