When I tried to update the Newsmag theme via wordpress as indicated in the tutorial “https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/”, it gave me the message “Theme already exists”. Then rename the folder and tried again but now it says ” wp booster error: Please update your [tagDiv social counter] Plugin!”.
I have disabled the Newsmag theme but it still gives me this error and it does not allow me to enter the admin panel.
What can I do to recover access to admin panel?
1) try first: remove the booster plugin
if unable to login, then try renaming the plugins folder to x-plugin
2a) if that does not work: Delete newspaper theme, and rename the plugins folder to x-plugins. This forces WP to revert to the default twenty-sixteen theme.
2b) one you login, CHANGE the theme
then try again
FTP always best way to update theme, plugins, etc. — and always good to disable certain plugins like wp-booster that change how the content works dynamically, when doing any updates. Much like turning off caching, etc.
