AMP

I’m having a lot of trouble with AMP and AMP tracking. I’m using the WordPress AMP plugin and Glue for Yoast. Can you confirm that the latest Newspaper theme version is compatible with both these plugins?

AMP links are not being reported in Google Analytics either since the update.

Please advise

Hi,

The theme is compatible with AMP and the Yoast SEO plugin. I could not say why Google analytics is not reporting the links. You could check this topic

Thanks

They work for me. Note that the /amp/ endpoint is outside the theme as separate entity, just like having a separate print template.

You can test the /amp/ page actually validates properly (such as no inline css), and check it actually works and view the page source by going to the endpoint for one of your posts.

Guys,
Did something happen on 8 August? That’s when AMP dropped suddenly.
I’m still showing up in SERPS but some AMP links just aren’t recording in GA.
It’s very frustrating.

Did you test your pages with F12 to see if errors?

Google did start some big changes in August, moving stuff around, converting a lot of properties to mobile first (e.g., Google news undergoing transition to mobile first view even on desktop).

There was also update to the Automattic AMP plugin last month if using that, so change might have impacted something.

Also, as I understand it, not all pages get served as AMP versions by default since technically I think there is some usability threshold for it to get cached fully on Google’s edge CDN — but things change so much over there, hard to say.
