Hi, I had a side bar on my home page and it disappeared after I updated the theme. I placed the proper widgets back into the bar, selected the bar to display and still nothing.

Might not help but for my sites i find making separate sidebar for home page is useful. I call mine homesider, put stuff in there, then select that for my home layout. This way its mot affected by any other settings from category or post template settings.
Try it if not working.

Check the inactive widgets section and if it’s there, drags and drop to the active sidebar and check the results -> https://www.screencast.com/t/McCLIXIr. Also, you can provide some useful screenshots with the Widgets section.
