Our organization utilizes two sets of categories. Does anyone know how I can get the second set to be visible on the front end similar to the treatment of the initial category?

Unfortunately, the theme does not have any such an option for what you want but the only possibility for achieving this behaviour would be to create a category and then, a subcategory, according to the following useful manual, like this -> http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-add-categories-and-subcategories-to-wordpress/
